The Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology

        It was founded in 1959 by Professor Gu Niufan, a well-known Psychopharmacology expert. In 1986, it became the psychopharmacology laboratory in Fudan University Medical College. The Department of Biochemistry and Pharmacology mainly focused in clinical and basic research on schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder and other major mental disorders, and carries out medical communication activities related to mental health. The faculties had many funds as National Natural Science Funds, R & D programs of Shanghai, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University etc, and various talent projects. A number of doctors and graduate students had been trained here every year. As a public research platform for neurobiochemistry of mental diseases, our lab could detect dozens of active substances such as neurotransmitters, biomarkers, hormones, etc. in human, experimental animals, and cells, to provide the following services for clinicians and graduate students with research needs.

    Prof. Zhang received Ph.D. degree in clinical medicine in Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2010 and was a visiting scholar at the Department of Psychology, University of Nebraska–Lincoln, America. He did postdoctoral research in the Key Laboratory of Animal Model and Human Disease Mechanism, Kunming Institute of Animal Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences during 2012-2013．He is the vice chairman of Youth Commission of Chinese Society of Neuroscience & Psychiatry, a member of the Schizophrenia Research Cooperation Group of Psychiatry Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a member of Sleep Related Disorders Group of Chinese Behavioral Medical Association, a member of Sleep Related Disorders Group of Chinese Behavioral Medicine Association, a youth member of the Psychiatric Branch of the Shanghai Medical Association, a member of Psychiatrist Branch of Shanghai Medical Doctor Association. He also serves as editorial board of Neurosci Bull and Gen Psychiatry.
